I'm right there with you about Salzburg, Doners, and public toilets! Did you go to the top of the fortress in Salzburg? That view literally took my breath away and brought tears to my eyes. Such beauty!

If you ever do get to go back, you might try and spend more time in the area around Munich--Neuschwanstein (sp?) castle, and Oberammergau. We liked O as much as Salzburg, just different--more quaint.

Please post some pics! I'd love to see all those other places I haven't been!

Welcome home!!! I am so excited that you had such a wonderful time. And I absolutely must second the notion about the real French bread, the European chocolate, ice cream, and Doner pita sandwiches. I don't know what's wrong with us here, but our food just isn't the same quality.

You've inspired me to take a trip to Austria, especially since we're both Sound of Music fans. I would actually love to hear the tidbits of trivia if you care to humor me!

oh my gosh, it sounds absolutely amazing! I can tell you had a wonderful time- oh it sounds heavenly!! I still need an in person conversation for all the details you "didn't want to bore us with" but I need anyway!
